Difference between put and set

Difference between put and set:
Both have almost the same meaning.

But set is generally used to show more gentle,careful and deliberate action while put shows less deliberate action.

• Example:Set the vase of flowers on table.(Deliberate and careful action)

Put the vase on of flowers anywhere,we are in a hurry.
