Migrate,Emigrate and Immigrate

Migrate(Verb)
>>To migrate is to move from one country or region and settle in another.Settlement may be temporary or permanent.
It is applied to the movement of humans and other animals both.


Examples>>

  • Every winter Siberian birds migrate into Indian Subcontinent .(Temporary move)
  • Many Easterners migrated west during the California Gold Rush (permanent move).
Emigrate(Verb)
To emigrate is to leave one country or region to settle in another. “Emigrate” implies a permanent move and only applies to people. 


Example>>

  • My grandparents emigrated from Norway.(They left Norway)
Immigrate(Verb)
To immigrate is to enter and settle in a foreign country, leaving a past home. “Immigrate” implies a permanent move and applies only to people. 


Example>>

  • My grandparents immigrated to the United States .(They entered in United States)
